Spey Rods

The current trend in the spey fishing community is towards shorter rods; I find thirteen foot rods to be a very versatile length.

The two rods presented below are both progressive action which is the most versatile spey rod action in my opinion. These rods will cast all line systems including Skagit and Scandinavian style shooting heads as well as short- and mid-belly lines.

I regard the seven weight as a good day to day rod for use on most average sized steelhead and salmon rivers. This rod casts a 510 grain Skagit head with tips to 200 grains like a dream, as well as a 475 grain Scandinavian style shooting head.

The nine weight is suited to larger fish, heavier sink tips and higher water conditions than the seven weight. This rod casts a 615 grain Skagit head (with tips to 250 grains) or a 570 grain Scandi head with ease. I think of this this rod as my high water, big fly stick for winter or early spring conditions.

Please discuss customization with me which includes choosing from our large selection of woods. Price is for the options listed below (not including shipping) and can include an optional feather inlay for an additional $100.
