Our preferred choice in
fly rod blanks is CTS,
a relatively new company from New Zealand whose
popularity is growing rapidly. They offer many
different blank line-ups across all actions and
configurations, from small stream trout blanks to
saltwater and two-hand spey blanks. We have largely
settled on the fast action Affinity X series for our
trout rods and most of our saltwater rods. We also use
CTS's Revo series for select saltwater and warmwater
rods where an extra-fast action and lifting power are
necessary. We also use their Affinity Switch series for
our switch rods and the Affinity DQ double handed series
for our spey rods.
With CTS blanks, the
customer can specify how many sections a blank is to
have in a given length and line weight, as well as what
colour,
from a palette of 28 colors. This lends a level of
customization and uniqueness not available elsewhere.

In addition to CTS we are
now using C.F.
Burkheimer blanks, their spey blanks in
particular. Burkheimer blanks have a stellar reputation
with incredible feel. We are very excited to have access
to their blanks.
